About this event

Manchester's LGBTQ ESEA community have finally got a place to connect and share with others! 🐝🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🤩

We're also organising the first-ever ESEAHM x MCR Festival at Grub on 3rd September. You can get tickets to that HERE.

With huge thanks to Manchester Pride's Community Grant, Voice ESEA and Tan's Topics are able to kickstart an ongoing project for LGBTQ ESEAs in Manchester and the Northwest called MCR ESEA PRIDE! We're starting with a meet-up where there will be a panel discussion on topics specific to people within our intersectional community, book giveaways from Queer Lit, and food provided by local ESEA caterers.

Please keep in mind these guidelines:

  • The event is predominantly aimed at Manchester-based East or Southeast Asians who identify under the LGBTQ umbrella
  • We welcome allies (in particular non-LGBTQ ESEAs and non-ESEA LGBTQs) but we do reserve the right to cancel people's tickets if there is an imbalance of attendees
  • We hope you understand that the previous point is because we want this to remain a safe space for LGBTQ ESEAs as such a space for us is currently non-existent
  • The topics we will be discussing may be triggering or emotional for some, so we do ask people to remember this and know they can leave or take a break away if needed
  • The event is alcohol-free due to venue's restrictions
  • We will be providing food with some dietary requirements taken into account (vegetarian, vegan, gluten free) - if you have any others please contact us via Eventbrite or social media
  • In the event of not being able to attend, please notify us or cancel your ticket so others can attend as there are limited spaces available.

PANELLISTS

Stanley Liew (@dancingwithstanley) - he/they

Kyami (@iamkyami) - they/she

Singer-songwriter Kyami's upbringing was a vibrant tapestry woven from the threads of their multicultural Japanese and Black American heritage. This rich blend of cultures provided them with a kaleidoscopic perspective on the world, allowing them to see and interpret things in a way that was distinctly their own. Kyami has garnered recognition from a broad range of brands, artists, and press outlets, further solidifying their reputation as an artist to watch. She now resides in Manchester.

Dan Chan (@the_danchan) - they/them

Dan is a Liverpool-based artist and producer. Their current practice is a tool to investigate their non-binary identity and mixed-race heritage though drag, comedy, movement, spoken word and visuals. They also produce shows to create space for marginalised identities in cabaret and nightlife.
